Philosophy
By
definition, sport is a recreational activity, which is not
practised to satisfy material requirements, but to enjoy and
improve physical condition. Given that it’s freely practiced,
sport enhances and highlights certain principles, as honesty,
dignity, defiance, competitiveness, and the feeling of being
part of a group. Nevertheless, homosexual sportsmen and sportswomen,
have quite frequently suffered from ostracism and mocking
within a group, due to a total ignorance by others.
G-Madrid
Sports has been born with a basic idea: the main commitment
of a sports club must be Sport Promotion, enabling its practice
within a freedom of expression environment, without discrimination.
Spanish society has made great advances in the acceptance
of homosexuality in our daily life. Nevertheless, this is
not the case for sport. G-Madrid Sports wants to get all sportsmen
and sportswomen, regardless of their sexual orientation, to
practice sport under the same conditions for everyone and
from respect. Being lesbian, straight or gay must not be a
handicap or the difference factor between sport team members.
Everyone
over 18 is welcome. In fact, we strongly encourage all the
team members to collaborate to get the club working, as only
with the team member’s initiative the club will grow
up, with all the sections working properly, and to be able
to participate in tournaments and competitions, as well as
creating a network with other sports clubs and teams. We encourage
all sportswomen and sportsmen to become G-girls and G-boys.
